Nature Diary 2015

At Selwyn House School we do Nature Diary which is where we draw still live, like flowers and veggies but 3D shapes. From Year 3 to Year 6 we draw what we see on our subject.
We have observed nature like apple, daffodils and kiwi fruit.

In a special assembly they give out prizes for Nature Diary. At the moment Year 4 have a teacher called Mrs Dann.

We always do nature and it is pretty obvious because it is in the title Nature Diary. The diary part means we draw the observation in a book.

In Nature Diary we draw what we see on our subject and then we write an observational piece of writing. Our first nature diary was the apple. Our second one was the Kumara. Our third one was the kiwi fruit. The fourth one was the shell and we got to choose a shell and I choose the Tonna shell.

We will now show you some of our pictures.

Yr 3 and 4 Netball

  Netball is AWESOME :)!!!
Elysse: “We played three games but we lost the first 2 games.we won the last game. It was very fun. We got
given a lollipop before the second game then at the end we. Got lots of fruit bursts and more lollipops” :)

Caya: “I thought it was very fun, the best part was that we got to vs three teams. The first 2 teams were very hard but we still made it through those games. The last one was quite easy for us to win because they where a younger class then us” :)

Nicole: “I was so nervous I was also sad because it was the game. I had so much fun.The fun part was playing the game. There was one annoying thing and that was getting cold.I was off the last quarters of the last  game.I was very sad” :)

Zoe: “I found it very fun and a little bit hard to focus during the last two games. It was hard  to work out the netball skills and play them in the game. Sometimes we win but sometimes we don’t win.At the end we found out that we won the all the games so we celebrated with sweets. We had lots of fun” :)

Sarah: “I found it very fun but a little bit hard to focus on shooting with the ball above my head. It was a tie for the - 2nd game we won the last game but sadly we lost the last game.”

Xanthe: “I enjoyed playing netball although we have to focus lots it is really fun. I hope to play next Winter.”

  • She has been interviewing us at the start, to see about what apps that are useful that we know of, and have used.
  • So far, we have had an interview and have learnt a strategy on the app “Explain Everything” to answer questions like 36x10 and 36x100.
  • Soon we will improve on our maths, and she will progress into a better teacher. Julia is coming 3 times a week to see us. We all hope that sometime soon Julia will be a great teacher after finishing with us!!!:)

On Wednesdays in period 4 we have been going up to the media room with Miss Fairhall and we have been completing tasks on scratch. Scratch is a animating programme. On it we can animate sprites to dance, communicate and much, much more. Once we completed our own tasks we got a badge with the scratch cat on it.

I think it is fun to programme things! - Aria
